Renault presented the new generation of the Megane, that will debut at the Frankfurt auto show next week. The fourth generation of the Megane is 25 mm lower than the model it replaces, while its wheelbase has increased by 28 mm, which means that there is more space for the rear passengers.
The front part of the car borrows design elements from the new Talisman. It features LED daytime running lights, rear lights similar to those of the Talisman, with its whole design to be more aggressive and muscular.
Renault has announced that the new Megane will be offered in a GT version that is equipped with 18 inch Renault Sport rims and a different front bumper with larger air intakes with honeycomb decorative plastics.
The interior features a 7 inch touch screen, that replaces a plethora of buttons on the center console, while the instrument panel is digital. The materials used are of better quality, with the rev counter to be positioned at the center of the instrument panel.
It will be available with a range of petrol and diesel engines, between which there will be a 1.2 liter TCe engine producing 130 hp with 205 Nm of torque and a 1.6 liter TCe producing 150 hp with 240 Nm of torque, while the Megane RS will be equipped with a 1.8 liter Tce producing 280 hp.
In terms of diesel engines, the car will be available with a 1.5 liter dCi producing 95 hp with 245 Nm of torque and 110 hp with 260 Nm of torque in another version, a 1.6 liter dCi engine producing 130 hp with 320 Nm of torque and a 1.6 liter dCi engine producing 160 hp with 380 Nm of torque. The engines will be combined with a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission with double clutch. The station wagon version of the car will be presented towards the end of the year.
