According to rumors Honda has already started the development of the new generation of the Honda S2000, which will have its engine on the front and it will feature a rear wheel drive system. The basic version of the car will be equipped with a turbocharged 1.5 liter VTEC engine producing close to 180 hp while the top, Type-R version will be equipped with a detuned version of the engine of the Civic Type-R and a limited slip differential. The engines will be combined exclusively with a 6-speed, manual transmission.
The new sports car of Honda will have many competitors, like the Fiat 124 Spider and its Abarth version, the Mazda MX-5 and the new BMW Z4.
