The design sketch of the Skoda Superb was leaked today by Autohome, one of the largest car sites in China and has caused extremely positive impressions throughout the world. This is the new Skoda Superb, which will go on sale from mid 2016.
The upcoming Skoda model borrows many design elements from VisionC concept presented at the Geneva Motor Show and it will be based on the MQB platform of the VW Group. The new Superb will be more technologically advanced than the Octavia and it will share parts with the Volkswagen Passat. Theoretically, the 2016 Superb, will be one of the biggest models based on the MQB platform, with a wheelbase of up to 2836 mm, 75 mm more than the current generation. Also, the new Superb will be quite lighter than the model it replaces, thanks to better engineering and more modern materials.
Regarding the engines which will be offered with the car, sources from China indicate that the V6 will be removed and it will be replaced with a 2 liter turbo four-cylinder engine. Probably with 280 hp, four-wheel drive and DSG gearbox. At the other end of the range, the standard version will be driven by a 1.4-liter TSI engine or a new TDI 1.6 liter 120 hp engine.
