Tesla revealed the Model X. The design of the car, is not surprising as it is not different from the concept that we saw for the first time in 2012. The most significant difference is probably the mirrors in the production model (the prototype was equipped with cameras).
It features LED lights front and rear and a sloping roof. It is worth noting that the aerodynamic drag coefficient of the SUV is just 0.24, thanks to an active spoiler that opens in one of three available positions, at high speeds. Tesla also says that the Model X’s windshield is “the largest in production” and it offers panoramic visibility to the driver and all the passengers. Finally, it has the Falcon Wings doors that allow easy access to the second and third row of seats.
The interior is available in two configurations. One of 6 positions and one with 7. The third row of seats is foldable, when it is not in use, to maximize passenger comfort, the space for the knees and the luggage compartment under the seats.
Regarding the engines, the Model X will be offered in two versions. Both are four-wheel drive, the 90D version will be equipped with two electric motors producing 259 each, while the P90D, has an electric motor of 259 hp and one of 503 hp and it can do the 0-98 km/h in 3.8 seconds, while it will have an autonomy of 402 km.
The batteries are located on the floor of the car to lower the center of gravity and to enhance the structure for side impact protection. The Model X is the first SUV that is rated with 5 stars in every category of crash test.
