Audi has announced that the new A4 will be available in a g-tron version, that will go on sale by the end of 2016 and it will be offered only in an Avant version.

The Audi A4 Avant g-tron is the second g-tron model of Audi, after the A3 Sportback g-tron. It is equipped with a 2 liter TFSI engine producing 170 hp with 270 Nm of torque. The engine has new pistons, new valves and an electronic gas pressure regulator, that reduces the pressure of the gas flowing from the tank at 200 bar, so that it can reach on the engine at a pressure from 5 to 10 bar.
According to Audi, the A4 Avant g-tron consumes 4 kg of CNG (compressed natural gas) per 100 kilometers, emitting less than 100 gr/km of CO2. The gas tanks have a capacity of 19 kg, giving the model a range of 500 km. The engine can consume either gasoline or natural gas or synthetic fuel of Audi.
The car, starts with gasoline, when it is cold and then returns automatically to CNG. The four tanks of CNG are positioned at the back, with the battery of the car to be mounted in the engine compartment.
