The Atlas is the production version of the Crossblue concept and it will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where the US version of the Passat is manufactured. The seven-seat crossover has a length of 5,037 mm, a width of 1979 mm and a height of 1768 mm.
Its infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, MirrorLink and it supports smartphone connectivity. The car also has a Fender Premium audio system with 12 channels, a 480-watt amplifier and 12 speakers.
It is based on the MQB platform and it is available with a 2.0 TSI turbo engine producing 238 hp and a 3,6-liter VR6 producing 280 hp. The engines will be combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission, with the power passing either to the front or all wheels through the 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
In terms of security systems the Atlas features Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist), Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning (Lane Assist) and Parking Steering Assistant (Park Assist). The official debut of the Volkswagen Atlas will take place at the Los Angeles auto show in mid-November.
