Volkswagen has started to sell in Austria a small box that records the movements and location of the car to explore the demand for “connected cars” in Europe.
The DiBox, connects to the vehicle’s electronic systems and allows the user to see the data of the car in his smartphone. It is available in Austria, for new and older models of Volkswagen and Audi and it costs €299 plus an annual fee of around €49.
Volkswagen, wants to sell 6.000 DiBox in 2015 and in the future, it will offer it to other brands. Moreover, in cooperation with Telekom Austria providing part of technology, it plans to expand its sales and service in other European markets.
