Volkswagen officially unveiled the revampmped Polo, giving emphasis on new engines, new technologies and secondarily aesthetic rejuvenation inside and out.
Changes in the design of the Polo are subtle but apparent. The front bumper is new, like the grille, while a line of chrome divides the fog lights. Corresponding changes happen in the back with a new bumper and new light fixtures to complete the look while there are 5 new designs for the alloy wheels.
The face-lifted Polo will have engines, that according to Volkswagen will improve fuel economy up to 21 % compared with the old ones. Furthermore, the new Polo will be offered with a choice between two 1 liter MPI engines with a yield of 60 or 75 hp, two four-cylinder 1.2 liter TSI engines, producing 90 or 110 hp and familiar 1.4 liter TSI with cylinder deactivation system and 10 extra hp (150 in total). The top Polo GTI will be available in 2015 and the only thing mentioned was that it will have more power. As for diesel engines, the VW Polo will be equipped with two new three-cylinder 1.4 -liter TDI engines with 75 or 90 hp . These engines replace the older 1.2 and 1.6 liters.
All the new Polos will have as standard equipment, the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System which automatically brakes the car after the collision to reduce the kinetic energy of the vehicle and to avoid a possible second collision. At the extra equipment the Driver Alert System, the Front Assist with City Emergency Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control systems are available. On the list of extras there is also a Sport Select suspension that offers two settings for the electronic adjustable dampers while the electromechanical power steering provides more precise control. Finally, the new VW Polo will be equipped with the infotainment system of the VW Golf, featuring a touch screen .
