Porsche participated in the GT1 Championship initially in 1996 and 1997 with the 993 GT1. The street-legal version of the Porsche 911 (993) GT1 is an extremely rare car and somebody that would be lucky to own it, will have in his hands a piece of history.
The car that you see in the picture above belonged to Kremmer Motorsport, which raced in 1997. They failed to finish in the 24-hour race of Le Mans that year, but they got the 3rd place in the Daytona race of 1998.
Mechanically, the front part of the car was based on the Porsche 993, while the rear was derived from the Porsche 962. Its flat 3.2-liter engine, has 4 valves per cylinder and 4 camshafts, it is liquid cooled and it produces 600 hp that are sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed gearbox.
The car has undergone an engine rebuilt in 2005, while in 2010 it got the livery that it had for the Daytona race of 1998. It is up for sale by Mark Donaldson, with its price being undisclosed.
