Jaguar presented the new XF at the New York auto show. The car is built on the new iQ [Al] aluminum platform which is used for the XE, with 75% of the construction being made of aluminum, making the XF weighs 190 kilos less than the previous generation.
It will be available with a 2 liter Ingenium diesel engine producing 163 hp with 380 Nm of torque for the base version and 180 hp with 430 Nm of torque for a more expensive version. The car will also be available with a 3 liter V8 twin-turbo engine producing 300 hp with 700 Nm of torque and a supercharged 3 liter V6 producing 380 hp with 450 Nm torque. All engines will be combined with the 8-speed automatic transmission, with the 2 liter Ingenium diesel to be available also with a 6 speed manual.
The torsional stiffness has been increased by 28% and the weight ratio is nearly 50:50. The suspension consists of double wishbones front, with Jaguar to equip the car with the Adaptive Dynamics system which automatically adjusts the damping.
The interior features, better quality materials, metallic decorations, a rotary gear selector and a Meridian sound system with 17 speakers producing 825 Watt. The car will be offered in a long-wheelbase version for Chinese customers, with its sales to begin in the fall.
