Official pictures and info of the new Mercedes E-Class were leaked online. The design of the car uses elements of the new C-Class and S-Class and it is based on the MRA platform.

It will be available as a sedan with a short and long wheelbase, a station wagon, a convertible and a coupe. Its wheelbase is 65 mm longer than the model it replaces, reaching 2.939 mm and also its total length is longer by 43 mm, reaching 4,922 mm, with its aerodynamic coefficient being just Cd 0,23.
The car will have a reduction in weight by 75 to 150 kg depending on the version and it will be equipped with many advanced technologies and safety systems.
Its interior will have dual digital displays of 12.3 inches on the high-end versions, while the simple versions will have a conventional analog instrument panel, combined with a 7 inch screen and an 8.4 inch screen on the center console.

In terms of gasoline engines the new E-Class will be available with a 2 liter turbo engine producing 184 hp on the E200, 211 hp on the E250 and 245 hp on the E300, while the E400 will be powered by a 3 liter six-cylinder turbo engine producing 333 hp.
The E450 AMG Sport version will produce 367 hp. At the top of the range the E63 AMG will be equipped with a 4 liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 600 hp. The engines will be offered with 6-speed manual gearbox, and the new 9 speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, which can send the power to either the rear or all four wheels.
The new E-Class will be available also with diesel engines. Firstly the E220d will be equipped with a four-cylinder diesel engine producing 195 hp, while the diesel range will also include a 3 liter V6 diesel engine producing 260 hp and a 2.9 liter twin-turbo straight six-cylinder engine producing 317 hp, with its quad-turbo version delivering 405 hp.

Mercedes will equip the new E-Class, with the Steering Pilot system that allows the car to be driven autonomously on the highway at speeds up to 130 km/hour. This system will be combined with the Distance Pilot Distronic system that with the help of sensors and cameras, allows the vehicle to maintain a safe distance from the car in front, even at speeds up to 200 km/hour.
The Multibeam LED lights of the car comprise of 84 LED diodes, with the beam control being much more precise in order to prevent blinding other road users. The LED tail lights operate at night in a brightness level of 80% higher than that during the day and when the car stops, the level of brightness is reduced to 60%.
