Honda presented in Paris the Civic Type-R Concept. The design has no dramatic changes in comparison to the car presented in Geneva last March. The main change is the new metallic blue color, with the white and red graphics. The Civic Type R has the very aggressive body kit, with strongly accented front and rear bumpers, new side skirts, inflated fenders,rear spoiler, quad exhaust tailpipes and black alloy wheels.
It is equipped with a brand new, two-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine,producing 280 hp, which will be combined with six-speed manual gearbox.
The concept is believed to be very close to the final form of the production car, it will be built at the company’s factory in Swindon, England. It will be ready by 2015 and Honda says it will offer performance never seen before from any other previous Type R models.
Suehiro Hasshi, project leader for the Civic Type R in the R & D department of Honda commented:
Honda has four Type R models, the Civic, the Integra, the Accord and the NSX. The engine in this new Honda Civic Type R is second to none when it has to do with pure power, torque and response.
