Porsche 959 Komfort heads to auction

A Porsche 959 “Komfort” will be auctioned by Mecum Auctions during Monterey Car Week, with the car’s estimated price being between $1,100,000 and $1,300,000. Initially, the construction reason of the 959 was because Porsche wanted to take part in the Group B Rally with the racing version of the car, which meant that they would have to create at least 200 road-legal vehicles.

The supercar was equipped with a six-cylinder 2.85-liter engine that produced 450 hp, sequential turbos, a 5-speed manual gearbox, an advanced all-wheel electronic system, ABS and an adjustable suspension.

The 1986 Porsche 959, was the fastest car in the world, reaching 195 mph (314 km/h), a record that it kept for only one year, with the Ferrari F40 being the first production car to break the barrier of 200 mhp (322 km/h).

The supercar is painted in a Guards Red color and features a Triple Gray interior with heated bucket seats. This 959 has also a full set of tools and the necessary documentation for the owner and the engineer, while it is the 36th of 292 produced, which justify the high purchase cost.
