Skoda officially presented the new Superb, at a special event in Prague. The third generation of the Superb, is described by the Czech company as “the best in the history of Skoda”. It is based on the MQB platform of the VW Group and promises to bring quality and technology that until now belonged to higher categories of cars.
The car is longer by 28 mm, wider by 47 mm and taller by 6 mm. compared to the model it replaces, while the wheelbase has grown by 80 mm, reaching 2,841 mm. At the same time, and despite the increase in the volume it is approximately 75 kilos lighter. The luggage compartment reaches 625 liters, while when the rear seat backs are folded in 60/40 it reaches 1,760 liters.
The interior features a the three-spoke steering wheel, black glossy decorations, large 8 inch touch screen of the infotainment system, which integrates the support of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The interior also features leather upholstery, chrome decoratins, a start/stop system, an electric parking brake, three zone air conditioning, electric panoramic tilting roof, rearview camera and Wi-Fi hotspot. Finally, each of the front doors has a housing for an umbrella, with the tailgate to operate electrically. It also has the system Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) with Driving Mode Select.
It will be available with a 1.4 liter engine producing 125 and 150 hp in two different versions, a 1.8 liter TSI with 180 hp and a 2.0 liter TSI with 220 and 280 hp. In terms of diesel engine, the new Skoda Superb will be offered with a 1.6 liter Greenline engine with 120 hp and an average fuel consumption of 3.7 liters/100 km and a 2.0 liter TDI with 150 and 190 hp. The engines are available with manual and automatic DSG transmissions.
The new Skoda Superb will be available from next June, with prices to be announced shortly before its launch.
