Toyota presented the production version of their hydrogen fueled car, called Mirai (which in Japanese means “future”). The car will go on sale next year. Initially offered in Japan from April 2015, while in Europe and the USA it will go on sale in the summer of the same year.
It is essentially the production version of the FCV concept, the car has a range of 300 miles (483 km) and the process of filling the tank with hydrogen, lasts less than five minutes.
Akio Toyota, the president of Toyota, said that with the Mirai the “future has arrived”. The Japanese company will develop an infrastructure (service) that will supply hydrogen to five northeastern US states. In collaboration with Air Liquide, 12 hydrogen stations will be opened in New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
The Toyota has not announced the price of the model, but rumors say that it will be sold in Europe for €50.000.
