Volkswagen presented the Golf R Variant which will debut in the Los Angeles auto show. The Variant version of the Golf R is practically the same as the standard, hatchback version, regarding the engine.
It is equipped with a supercharged two liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 300 hp and 380 Nm of torque combined with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. According to Volkswagen, the 100 km/h from a standstill comes in 5.1 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. The average fuel consumption of the car is 7 liters per 100 km and emissions, reach 163 gr/km of CO2.
The Golf R Variant features also the ESC Sport Stability system, the latest version of the DCC adaptive chassis and the Driving Profile Selector that enables the driver to select between four different driving modes: Eco, Normal, Individual and Race. Sales of the Golf R Variant will begin in Europe in the spring of 2015.
