Toyota is considering to transform Gazoo Racing in a special sports brand that will produce models, which will be the direct opponents of the respective BMW M and Mercedes AMG.
Gazoo Racing coordinates the activities of Toyota Racing, such as for example the WRC and the World Endurance Championship, but they also produce special version of Toyota cars, which are sold in the Japanese market, called GRMN (Gazoo Racing Masters of Nurburgring).
Koei Saga, who is the head of both the Gazoo Racing and engine sector of Toyota, said:
It is in our intentions to increase the presence of Gazoo in production cars and in other markets outside of Japan. We want to enforce the bond between racing activities and sports cars.
he continued saying:
In Europe, the challenge is greater, because of the strong competition, but also the additional costs. Nevertheless we are working intensively to soon have a brand like M of BMW.
The latest car improved from the Gazoo is the Toyota GT86 GRMN, that has a range of modifications, such as an increase in horsepower and torque, a revised suspension and aerodynamics, as well as weight reduction, by using more lightweight materials.
