Toyota, presented the fourth-generation of the Prius, which will be released in Japan at the end of the year. The design of the hybrid model borrows several elements from the Mirai.

The fourth generation of the Prius is based on the new TNGA platform of the company (Toyota New Global Architecture), which carries significant upgrades and it is 60% stiffer. This leads to a significant increase in passenger comfort and driving dynamics of the car.
The new platform makes the Prius weigh 70 kilos less and it gives it a more spacious interior. The new Prius weighs 1,280 kilos, with the plug-in hybrid version weighing 1,350 kilos. Its length is 4.540 mm and its wheelbase is 2,700 mm.

Toyota did not provide much information about the hybrid engine, but they said that almost all of it is new and they promises that it will be 10% more economical.
The new Prius, has parts that have already been tested in the racing TS040 Hybird, such as microchips, microcontrollers and supercapacitors, to increase the storage of the energy produced during braking.
