Volkswagen presented the Arteon, that is based on the Sport Coupe Concept that was unveiled at the Geneva Motor show in 2015 and is a premium four-door coupe with muscular lines, a low height and a sporty design.
It has LED lights, frameless windows and 20-inch wheels, with its length reaching 4,841 mm, its width 1,871 mm and its height 1,427 mm.
Mechanically, it will be available with a new 1.5-liter TSI engine producing 150 hp, available with a six-speed manual transmission or an automatic DSG. It will also be offered with a 2.0-liter TSI engine, producing 190 and 280 hp, that will be available only with the automatic transmission. Finally in terms of diesel engines, it will have a 2-liter diesel, producing 150, 190 and 240 hp, while later a hybrid version will be added, that will have 100 km of electrical autonomy.
Its interior is the same as that of the Passat and it features a 9.2-inch screen in the center of the dashboard that supports gestures and a head up display that Volkswagen calls Active Info Display. The cabin has also leather and Alcantara linings and wooden, aluminum and metal decorations, with the luggage space reaching 563 liters, that after folding the rear seats, becomes 1,557 liters.
It will be equipped with a plethora of security systems such as an active cruise control, Emergency Assist, Lane Assist and many more. The price of the car in Germany will start from €35,000.
