Volkswagen presented 6 years ago at the Frankfurt auto show of 2009 the Bluesport Concept and Heinz-Jakob Neusser, head of the company’s development department said that although he likes the car as an idea, it can not pass in production, because the market of roadster models is in decline.
Neusser revealed that Volkswagen was ready to produce a mid engine roadster, but after much research, the company concluded that it is not a viable proposition and thus the project for the car, which would have been placed against the Mazda MX-5, was abandoned. Finally, Neusser revealed that Volkswagen is preparing several sports models such as the Golf R400 and the Passat R.
