Ford presented the Shelby GT350R Mustang at the Detroit auto show. The car is characterized as the most “track-ready” Mustang ever built and can move legally on the road, with its sales to begin in 2015.
It features an aerodynamic body kit with a ventilated hood, large diffuser, inflated fenders, carbon big spoiler, air vents on the fenders, side skirts, front spoiler and new bumpers.
It is equipped with a 5,2 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine producing over 500 hp with 542 Nm of torque, combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox, with the power to pass on the street via a Torsen differential lock.
It also wears an electronic oil cooler and 19 inch rims made of carbon, while it does not have air conditioning, stereo, rear seats, floor mats, spare tire and rear view camera to keep the weight as low as possible.
Thus the weight of Shelby GT350R Mustang is 59 kg less than the Shelby GT350 Track Pack. For any client that does not care about weight, Ford offers the “Electronic Package” that adds an in-car dual zone air conditioning, a 8 inch touch screen, 7 speakers, side mirrors with turn signals and more equipment.
